NZALT

NZALT is the website of the New Zealand Association of Language Teachers. NZALT is the professional association of teachers of international languages in New Zealand primary schools, secondary schools, and tertiary institutions. Updated regularly, this site is a must visit for teachers who want to keep up-to-date with the latest thinking, projects and information about teaching international languages.

Students can enjoy a new word game every day. Two difficulty levels to choose from. Includes: word search, brainteaser, trivia game, anagram, cryptogram, crosswords, The games are designed to increase: general knowledge, vocabulary, spelling, memory, concentration, critical thinking and problem solving.

A really fun site for younger (and older) students where they can create their own animals on the web by switching head, bodies and tails. Teachers will find it is great for imaginative language work where students name the new animals they create, describe the habitats in which they live, describe how they move and what they eat - the possibilities are endless.

A Houghton Mifflin site that is a lot of fun – especially for reluctant writers. The writer chooses a topic and is then asked to write in words as described, eg a high number, your favourite song etc. Once finished the new Wavky Web tale is published with hilarious results which encourages more writing.
